What I write…

I can write about the struggle of Black women

About the active violation against our bodies

About how we are always a footnote in the struggle

And how men are unwilling to accept their privilege

I can write about how women are forced to engage in oppressive discussions with men about how problematic they are

I can write about how violence is meted out against us

I can write about how the onus is always on women to be extra cautious

And how men erase themselves from this discussion

I can write about how I am triggered on social media every day

I will write until my ink dries up and still my words won’t be enough

I write because, sometimes, most times, my words are all I have

I can write, so I do just that

I write because it is all I have left
